It is many years since the Easter holiday period attracted a greater number of visitors to Dunedin than has been the case this year. Hotels and accommodation houses in the city and suburbs have been taxed to the limit, and most of the principal hotels in the city have been compelled to turn people away. This is said to be most unusual for Dunedin, Easter weekend being regarded normally as one .of the quieter periods of the year. Hotel proprietors and boardinghouse keepers agree that this year the holiday weekend was busier than for 10 or 15 years. One feature of this year’s holiday crowd is the number of people who booked their accommodation for several days on end instead of requiring only the usual tourist’s bed and breakfast.
