VACATION SCHOOL
PUPILS OF CORRESPONDENCE COURSE. GATHERING AT NEW PLYMOUTH. (By Telegraph—Press Association j WELLINGTON. April 18. A vacation school for pupils of the Correspondence School will be held in New Plymouth from May 8 to May 20. The headmaster, Mr Butchers, said today that the splendid hostels of the Girls’ and Boys’ High Schools there had been made available and it was estimated that 200 pupils of the Correspondence School would attend from both islands. They will travel in charge of members of the teaching staff. They will rub shoulders with one another, enjoy healthful exercises and sports and there will be an opportunity for practical work in handcraft, woodwork, needlecraft, cooking, typewriting, art and scientific experiments and singing and band work, etc., in preparation for a concert at the end of the school. Nature study rambles and historical and geographical excursions' will be undertaken. Concession railway fares will be given by the Railways Department and the Education Department is allowing either 7s 6d per week boarding allowance or actual travelling expenses, with a maximum of £1 2s 6d.
