ESPERANTO
MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club was held last evening in the clubroom. Municipal Buildings. Mr A. Dewar, D.8.E.A., presiding over a satisfactory attendance. The secretary reported the receipt of correspondence in Esperanto during the week comprising a letter from a prospective migrant in Austria: two postcards from Hungary and one from Czechoslovakia (requesting postagestamps exchange); tourist publicity leaflets from Holland and Czechoslovakia. and a journal from Switzerland. Mr W. H. King, vice-president of the New Zealand Esperanto Association and club delegated presented the ?Bth quarterly report of the association. This showed the Dominion membership folthe current year to be well forward and the finances to be extremely satisfactory. The Dominion Executive was able to report a surplus from the 9th New Zealand congress held at New Year the receipts from which constituted a record: and preliminary arrangements are in hand for holding the 10th Congress at Wellington dining the p orthcoming Centenary celebrations. The N.Z.E.A. "Cfficial Bulletin” is at nresent in the hands of the printers. The Standing Committee bad held five meetings during the quarter to consider business resulting from the last congress and relating to future operations. A printed correspondence course is being imported from London and it is hoped to make this available to the public in the near future. The elementary and advanced circles continued operations under the guidance of Mr Dewar and Mr King, respectively. and substantial progress was reported at the conclusion of the lesson ncriod. The final item was give!) by Mrs A. Dewar, who contributed a room ’in Esperanto entitled "Ho. Mia I Koi-." which was translated by Mr King, and later analysed on the blackboard.
It was decided to postpone next week’s meeting, due on Anzac. night, until the following Thursday.
