LOUIS KNOCKS OUT ROPER. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LOS ANGELES. April 18. Joe Louis knocked out Roper in the first round of a scheduled 10-round title bout today. The knockout came after only 2 minutes 20 seconds. Roper was counted out while he was groggily attempting' to regain his feet. • A right to the jaw after a series of lefts to the jaw ended a farcical fight which was witnessed by a large crowd of cinema actors, all of whom were violently pro-Roper. A crowd of 3500 paid 100.000 dollars. the best seats being priced at 11 dollars 50 cents, to see Ropfer, who is employed as an electrician at one of the film studios, land a single stinging blow to Louis’s face, after which the champion rushed him to a corner and knocked him out quickly.
