FEATHERSTON COUNTY

CONDITION OF ROADS. SOME CLOSED TO HEAVY TRAFFIC (“Times-Age” Special.) Owing to weather conditions, a number of roads within the Featherston County are being closed to* heavy traffic during May, June, July, August and September. This action is being taken, as an advertisement in this issue announces, in pursuance of the Wairarapa Counties Joint By-laws. The list of roads is set out in full on the advertisement, and traffic exceeding the following weights is prohibited by a resolution of the council at the last meeting: (a) Traffic 3 tons in weight in the case of the transportation of any motor vehicle; (b) 1£ tons in weight to each pair of wheels in the case of any other motor vehicle, engine or machine. Prosecution will follow any infringement of this order of the council.

A resolution also passed by the council and similarly advertised in this issue, provides for the maximum weight of vehicular traffic on the Moeraki, Hinakura and Ngakonui bridges.
