ST. BRIDE’S CONVENT

ANNUAL GARDEN PARTY. ART UNION RESULTS. The annual garden fete and sale of work in aid of St Bride’s Convent was held in the beautiful grounds at the Convent on Saturday afternoon under ideal conditions. There was a large attendance and the sum of over £3OO was raised. The following are the results of the various competitions and art unions: — Art union: D’Oily, No. 2323 A, Mrs H. Myers, Mauriceville. Traycloth, No. 804, Mrs P. Ryan, High Street. Traycloth, 2313 A, Mrs J. E. Frost, 15 Donald Street. Supper cloth, 1556 A, Mrs E. J. Adams, 66 Bentley Street. Pair of painted pictures, 455 A, M. Gill. Judging competitions: Teddy bears, Mrs Taplin; teaset, Miss Dorset; pullover, Mr T. McCracken; bedjacket, Mrs K." Eastwood; lady’s pyjamas, c/o Public Service Garage, Wellington; gent’s pyjamas, Mrs Penson; lady’s costume, John Colvan; bag of flour, Mrs Lynch; box of tea, Mrs E. Robbins; ham, Mrs Cobb; box of Hansell’s essences, Mrs Anstis; pair of slippers, Mrs MacPhail; round cushion, Miss R. Cusack; square cushion, Mrs E. Falk; electric toaster, Mrs R. The prize-winners in the baby show were:— Boys under nine months: Brian Gallagher. . Girls under nine months, Imelda Kennedy. Boys over nine months, Barry Church. Girls over 9 months and under 18 months: Pamela Hearle. The nail-driving competitions resulted: Men, Mr Dewar; • ladies, Mrs Naan. The Mother Superior and Nuns tender their sincere thanks to all those who helped to make the function the great and financial success it was.
