FEATHERSTON

HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the South Featherston Home and School Association was held in South Featherston Hall on Thursday afternoon. Mrs Arch. Clark was in the chair and there were 23 members present. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Hawke and Lumsden. The competitions for 1938 resulted in Mrs Bladen being first, Miss Goodrick second and Mrs Wilton third. Mrs Stark extended thanks to Mrs Clark for donating the prizes. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: —President, Mr Wilton: vice-president, Mr L. Lumsden; chairwoman, Mrs Aren. Clark; acting chairwoman, Mrs W. Stark; secretary, Mrs Wilton; treasurer, Mrs Dean Burt; social committee, Mesdames Cross, L. Rasmussen, Blandford. On the motion of Mrs A. Clark a vote of thanks was passed to the secretary and treasurer for the capable manner in which they had carried out their duties. Mrs A. Gain thanked the social committee and Mr J. Bain for their assistance during the past year. The tea hostesses were Mesdames A. Clark. Carter and G. Burt. Euchre Party at Kaivfaiwai.

There was a good attendance at the euchre party and dance held in the Kaiwaiwai Hall on Thursday night in aid of the Red Queen (Miss Ngaire Tocker).

The winners in the euchre tournament were: —Ladies: Mrs B. Burt,. 1; Mrs A. W. Edwards, 2. Men: Mr J. Riki, 1; Mr H. Fenwick, 2. The raffles were won by Mr V. Bull (doll) and Mr J. Bridge (chocolates). ... Motor Accident. An accident occurred yesterday afternoon when two cars collided on a small bridge on the Greytown-Feath-erston Road. Both cars were extensively damaged. The cause of the accident was a tyre bursting, one of the cars getting out of control. No one was hurt.
