The continued absence of rain had a very definite! effect on the live stock market in Feilding today, sales of store sheep and cattle being at nominal figures. The yarding was restricted except in the case of fat sheep, where a fairly heavy entry made late rates. Quotations are: — Sheep: Extra prime wethers, 21s to 225; lighter prime, 19s Id to 20s 7d; unfinished. 18s to 18s Gd; medium-weight lambs. 14s Id: light, Ils Gd to 12s Gd; mixed age’ewes, r.w. Southdown rams. 9s; four and five-year do.. 12s 2d; aged do, 4s; two-tooth wethers, best, 18s to 13s 8d; others. 10s lOd to 12s Id; wel.ljter lambs, good. 10s to Ils lOd; smaller, 5s 5d to Gs lOd; good b.f. wether lambs, 13s; others, to Gs 9d; small ewe lambs. 6s 7d. Cattle: Good Shorthorn heifers, £6 to £6 15s; lighter, £5 5s to £5 15s; others, from £3 7s 6d to £5 prime cows, £6 to £6 17s.Gd; medium. £4 10s to £5 ss; plain, £3 7s 6d to £4; good cows and heifers, £6 5s to £6 15s; lighter, £5 to £5 7s 6d; runners, £3 to £3 2s; boner cows, heavy, £2 10s to £3 Is; light, £1 to £2 ss; springing heifers £4. Poultry: Hens, Is Gd to 2s lOd; pullets, 'Bs 6d; cockerels, Is 9d to 3s 3d; ducks, 2s 7d. Pigs: Weaners, 2s to 12s; slips, 6s to 7s 6d; stores; £1 15s 6d; sows, 18s to £2 12s. CARTERTON SALE. CATTLE FIRMER IN PRICE. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —We held our weekly sale at Carterton yesterday when a big entry was submitted to a good attendance. The sheep sale was dull, and farmers showed very little interest. Cattle were slightly firmer while pigs met with a weak demand. The following are the prices realised: — Sheep: Fat ewes, Ils 3d, Ils 4d, 12s to 12s lOd; forward ewes, to 8s 3d; fat wethers, to 19s 3d; forward wethers, to 16s 7d; fat lambs, 14s 8d to 16s; m.a. ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 9s 3d to 13s 2d; f.m. ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 3s 4d, 5s to 6s; woolly wether lambs, 7s 6d. 8s to Ils; b.f. lambs. 10s 3d to 12s. Cattle: Jersey heifers on drop, to £8; Jersey heifers just calved, £5 to f, £6 10s; fat cows. £4 to £5.35; fat heifers, £4 8s to £5 10s; forward cows, £2 15s to £3 15s; store cows, 35s to £2 10s; cull cows, 10s to 20s; cows and calves, £3 10s to £4 14s; bulls, £5 2s Gd to £6 19s.
