WEDDING

♦ — HOUSLEY—SMITH. A wedding of widespread interest was solemnised at St. Matthew’s Church, Mastertbn, on Easter Saturday, the contracting parties being Olive Elva, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Smith, Tararua Street, Masterton, and Benjamin Thomas Housley, son of Mr and Mrs B. C. Housley, of Huntly. The Rev, E. J. Rich was the officiating minister, and Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, and she looked very attractive in her gown of pale pink magnolia beaute. Her exquisite veil was arranged with a spray of for-get-me-nots, and made a charming finish to her wedding gown. The bride’s three sisters, Nola (chief), Verlene and Sybil, who accompanied her as bridesmaids, were frocked alike in dainty pink georgette with rucked bodices and sleeves and square necklines. Their quaint and unusuai bridal caps were made of silver leaves and shaded pink velvet posies. Silver shoes completea their attire. Mr E. M. Housley and Mr I. Housley, of Huntly, brothers of the bridegroom, acted in the capacity of best man and groomsman respectively. Many friends and relations, some from Wellington, Trentham, Napier, Lower Hutt, Huntly and Greenmeadows, were later entertained at a reception in the Savage Club Rooms, being received by Mrs Smith, assisted by Mrs Housley. Mrs Smith wore a frock of silver sponge crepe with navy hat and shoes. Mrs Housley was attired in a model frock of navy embossed silk, with fur necklet and shoulder spray of autumn tints. Several toasts were honoured and many congratulatory telegrams read. The happy couple later left for an extended tour of the South Island, the bride travelling in a smart frock of duck-egg blue and navy coat with matching accessories. The future home of Mr and Mrs Housley will be in Masterton.
