Brown, Waihi, Wangaehu, have returned from a visit to Napier. Miss Billie Lang, Christchurch, is the guest of Miss Joan McKenzie, Puke Te. Masterton. Miss N; Hadley, of Garterton, is visiting Mr and Mrs G. L. England, Ross Street, Woodville. Mr and Mrs R. Fell, Lower Hutt, are staying with Mrs B. R. Bunny, Cole Street, Masterton. Mr and Mrs J. M. Andrew, “Awanui,” Whareamu ( have left on a motoring holiday in the South Island. Miss E. Chapman, Masterton, is spending a holiday with Mrs John Stuart, Runneymede, Marton. Mrs W. Wrigley and Misses M. and E. Wrigley, Masterton, have returned home from a holiday in Picton. Mrs F. C. Lewis, Renall Street, Masterton, who spent Easter in Havelock North, has returned to Masterton. Mrs F. Moss, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs F. McKenzie, Essex Street, Masterton, has returned to Wellsford.
Mrs J. Murray, of Wanganui, who has been staying with Mr and Mrs A. T. Murray, High Street, Carterton, returned home yestercay. Miss Austin; Dental Nurse, left Eketahuria yesterday for her new position at Napier. She has been succeeded by Nurse Wall, of Auckland. Mr and Mrs T. B. Robb, Renall Street, Masterton, will leave by the Rarigitane early next month for a six months’ tour of the British Isles.
Mrs J. Inglis, of Wellington, ..wife of the Rev. J. Inglis, formerly of 'Masterton and Carterton, has been the guest of Mrs E. Peters, High Street, Carterton.
Mrs Mortlock, of Christchurch, who has been spending a holiday in Featherston as the guest of Mr and Mrs H. Cundy, Western Lake, has left for her home.
There was a large attendance at a gift evening tendered to Miss Maureen Payne in the Nireaha Hall. At a suitable interval Mr Breen, of Hukanui, on behalf of those present; asked Miss Payne to accept the many useful and valuable gifts, also a gift from the Tennis and Ping Pong Clubs, wishing her every happiness in her future life. Miss Phyllis Mason then presented Miss Payne with a horse-shoe bouquet, the artistic work of Mrs ft. Nordell. On behalf of the Nireaha Hockey Club, of which Miss Payne was a valued member, Mr R. Farrow presented her with a pair of crystal vases. Mr C. Oliver suitably replied on behalf of Miss Payne.

DUFFY—BENTON. The engagement is announced of Dawn, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. W. S. Benton, Featherston, to Jock Wilfred, second son of Mr and Mrs E. W. Duffy, Lower Hutt.
