FLOODS IN VICTORIA

♦ GREAT DAMAGE TO ROADS IN SOME AREAS Wind of cyclonic force. TREES AND HAYSTACKS SUFFER. 8y Telegraph—-Press Assoeia’lon —Copyright MELBOURNE, April 13. Rain throughout the State early this morning caused rivers to rise again and revived the serious floods which had been receding after the Easter rains. Rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours was up to two inches in places and half tn inch in the city. In the Shepparton district, in the north-west of the State, great damage was done to roads. In parts of the north-west the rain was accompanied by wind of cyclonic force, which uprooted trees and blew over haystacks, 175 points of rain falling in half an hour. The railway bridge over the Goulburn River at Mooroopna, against which hundreds of tons of floating timber had been piled by flood waters, is believed to have been moved a foot from its position. The rain has now ceased, but more is forecast.
