FARMERS’ UNION

NOT DECLARED A PdLITICAL ORGANISATION. LABOUR PARTY ATTITUDE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The proposal in a remit that the Farmers’ Union be declared a political organisation was not proceeded with when it came before’ the annual conference of the Wellington Labour Party in Wellington yesterday. If carried, the remit would have meant that Farmers’ Union members could not belong to the Labour Party also, and conversely that members of the Labour Party could not join the Farmers’ Union. The committee to which the remit had been referred reported that it had no recommendation to make. The report was adopted by the conference and there the question ended.
