MASTERTON SALE
PRIME EWES IN DEMAND. A large entry of fat sheep, a smaller penning of store sheep and a fair yarding of fat cattle were offered at Masterton yesterday. Prime heavy ewes were in keen demand at prices better than those ruling for several months. Medium wethers and blackfaced 2-ths were about on a par with late quotations. There was an all round easing of about 2s a head in the store sheep section and nondescript lines were hard to quit. There was only a fair demand for fat cows and heifers. Realisations were: — Fat sheep: Best b.f. 2-th, 18th to 20s; others, 15s to 17s; medium to good wethers, to 17s 9d, light, 14s to 15s; prime heavy ewes, 13s 9d to 15s 9d, medium, 10s 6d to 12s 6d, light, 8s 6d to 9s 9d.
