LONDON QUOTATIONS. BUTTER MARKET QUIET. The London butter market was quiet last week. New Zealand finest salted butter was quoted last Thursday at 114 s a cwt., which was unchanged on the previous week. This price is from 4s to 5s a cwt. below that ruling a year ago and is 10s 3d a cwt. below the London equivalent of the New Zealand guaranteed price. Last Thursday’s quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand: Salted, 114 s (114 s a year ago 118 s to 119 s); unsalted, 118 s (118 s to 120 s, a year ago, 121 s to 1225). Australian: Salted, 113 s (113 s to 114 s); unsalted, 114 s to 115 s (114 s to 115 s). Danish: Ills f.0.b., 132 s to 133 s spot (114 s 135 s to 1365). Dutch; Unsalted, 109 s to Ills; ex. 113 s (110 s

Lithuanian: Unsalted, 114 s to 115 s (116 s to 117 s). • Polish: Salted, 109 s to 110 s (Ills); unsalted, 110 s (112 s South Africa: 106 s to 110 s (107 s to Ills).

Retail prices were unchanged, New Zealand at Is 3d to Is 2d and Danish Is 4d a lb.

The present price of ll'4s is equal to approximately 13.58 d a lb. f.o.b. New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d a lb. f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124 s 3d a cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 6.7 d a lb. f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d.

Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week were 1349 tons, compared with 1806 tons of Australian. New Zealand butter in store on Friday, including 530 tons ex Tamaroa and Port Campbell, totalled 4673 tons, as against 5655 tons a year ago. Australian butter in store amounted to 3362 tons, compared with 3309 tons a year ago. The cheese market is quiet and steady. Thursday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: —

New Zealafid: White and coloured, 60s (60s; a year ago, white 69s 6d to 70s, coloured 70s). Australian: White, 52s to 55s (52s to 565); coloured, not quoted (55s to 575).

Canadian: White and coloured, 71s to 73s (71s to 735).

English: Finest farmers’, 88s to 100 s (88s to 100 s): factory cheese, 64s (not quoted). The retail price of New Zealand cheese is unchanged at 8d a lb.

Deliveries of New Zealand cheese from store last week were 11,830 crates, the quantity remaining in store, including 12,460 crates ex Port Campbell and Port Dunedin, being 89,811 crates, compared with 68,354 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 2984 boxes, the quantity in store being 85,632 boxes, as against 69,158 boxes a year ago.. .
