WEDDINGS

SIMMONS—WILTON. The wedding took place at St Matthew’s Church last Thursday evening of Elva, youngest daughter of Mr Robert Wilton and the late Mrs Wilton, formerly of Rangitumau, and Francis Simmonds, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Simmonds, of Waitakora, Dannevirke. The Rev E. J. Rich officiated. The bride, who was attended by her father, wore a frock of parchment crepe satin royal, with veil forming a train, and held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a cream shower bouquet, relieved with pink. The bridesmaids, Misses Elsie Simmons, sister of the bridegroom, and Avis Wilton, niece of the bride, were dressed alike in lemon floral taffeta, with floral headbands, and carried shower bouquets of lemon and pink. The flower girl, Annette Wakely, of Christchurch, a niece of the bride looked charming in lemon taffeta with headband and posy to-match. The best man was Mr Wallace Simmons, and the duties of groomsman were carried out by Mr David Simmons, both brothers of the bridegroom. The reception was held in the Municipal Social Hall. Mr and Mrs F. Simmons will reside at Waitakora, Dannevirke. CODY—HESSELL. The Methodist Church, Masterton, was the scene of a pretty wedding on Eastdr Monday afternoon, when Phyllis, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs G;' L. Hessell, Bannister Street, Masterton, was married to William Edward, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. E. Cody,. Church Street, Masterton. The church was beautifully decorated by girl friends of the bride. The ceremony was performed by the Rev F. Parker, and the service was fully choral, the soloist being Miss D. O’Donnell. Miss A. M. Jones presided at the organ. The bride entered the church with her father and she wore a beautiful gown of deep magnolia satin, cut on slimming lines. The bodice was high waisted and rucked at the front and finished with trimming of Seed pearls. The-plain- Atting skirt was cut to form a long, train which was finished with seed pearl and rose bud trimmings. Her handsome bridal tulle veil was worn halo fashion and was held in place with a band of pearls. A shower bouquet completed the toilet. The bridesmaids Miss Edith Manhell (chief), Miss Greta Cody, and Miss Lilian Hessell, wore-handsome dresses of pale pink net embossed with deeper shades of pink satin outlined with pearls. The bodices were cut with V neck and rucked and the sleeves were puffed to elbow, the skirts were ankle length cut on full billowy lines. Their hats were of pale pink tulle and they wore mittens to match. The bouquets were of the same tones. Mr Stan Wills, Lower Hutt, was best man, and Mr Murray Daniell, Masterton, and Mr Claude Churchill, Wellington, were groomsmen. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Masonic Hall, where the large number of guests, including visitors from--Auckland, Wanganui and Wellington, were received by the bride's mother, who wore a storm blue repp .tailored gown with navy blue velour hat and carried a bouquet of: red carnations. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who chose a rust repp gown embroidered in gold and hat to tone. She carried a._posy of autumn’ tints. Later in the afternoon Mr and MrsCody left by car for the north, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride travelled in a rust coloured frock embroidered in gold with accessories to tone. Their future home will "be in Masterton. .
