CASTLEPOINT POPULAR
MASTERTON RESIDENT WASHED OFF REEF. A FORTUNATE 'ESCAPE. During Easter, Castlepoint, was patronised by the largest number of holiday visitors for some years. The delightful weather made the conditions at this popular resort -particularly pleasant. . On Friday .last .Mr Alex Briden, of Masterton, had a fortunate escape from drowning When he was washed off the roof, while fishing. He was on “the Verandah” when an exceptionally high wave came in and washed him into the sea. Another visitor who was fishing nearby .promptly threw in a line, which Mr Briden was able to grasp and so regain the rocks. He suffered, however, from more or less extensive bruising. Very little fish, appears to have been caught at Castlepoint during the holiday an odd hapiika being all that rewarded the efforts of enthusiasts.
