EASTER TRAFFIC
VARIOUS SERVICES WELL PATRONISED. Easter holiday traffic in the Wairarapa was fairly heavy, though it is not known whether there was any substantial increase in the volume of traffic as compared with the preceding Easter. All trains running to and from Masterton were exceptionally well patronised, many being filled to capacity. The total number of people travelling is considered to be much the same as that recorded at the corresponding period of last year. One effect of the beautifully fine weather that favoured the holidays this year was to delay the return of many visitors until the latest time possible. Service car proprietors report heavy bookings over the holidays and a slight increase in the nqmber of people travelling by this means. The number of private cars on the roads during the holidays was very large and as far as the Wairarapa. was concerned there was an entire absence of any accidents of a serious nature.
