ALFREDTON
FAREWELL PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) ’ Mr and Mrs John Liverton’s home, Waihoke Valley, was the scene of an enjoyable party recently, when the settlers of the district gathered to farewell Mrs Graham and Mr V. Graham, on the eve of their departure for Masterton. Mrs Liverton received her guests wearing a printed satin gown, Mrs Graham being attired in navy. The spacious dining room had been cleared for dancing and the sitting rooms were bright with log fires and bowls of scarlet geraniums. Music for dancing was supplied by Mesdames Liverton and Bowering and Messrs Harman and Hislop. Mr Harman made presentations tc the guests of honour, mentioning their long association with the district, and their willingness to assist with social activities. Mr Pat Donovan also spoke on behalf of the Rugby enthusiasts, Mr Graham being a keen footballer.. Mr and Mrs Liverton were thanked for their hospitality and the gathering was brought to a close with-the singing of Old Lang Syne. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs J. Spring and family have returned from a short visit to Waipukurau. Mrs D. M. Parsonson has returned from a holiday spent at Lower Hutt and Greytown. Mr and Mrs C. M. A. Kebbell, Siberia, Ashhurst, spent Easter with Mrs Cecil Kebbell, Te Hoe. Mr and Mrs W. Brannigan are visiting Wellington, where they are the guest of their daughter, Mrs E. Walker. Mr and Mrs H. R. Burch and Mrs Hartley Senr., spent Easter at Castlepoint Beach. Miss E. Liverton, Wellington, has been staying with Mr and Mrs J. Liverton, Waihoke Valley. Mr W. Pearson, Te Kuiti, is the guest of Mr and Mrs Harman Senr. Mr J. Taylor, Marton, spent Easter in Alfredton, where he was the guest of Mrs Nordlof. Mr Geo. Benton, of New Plymouth, visited old Alfredton friends during the weekend. He was one of the early settlers in this district. Miss W. Smith and Mr S. Smith are spending a holiday in Nelson. Miss Boustead was the guest of her sister, Mrs L. Cooper, for Easter. Mr E. Harman, Lower Hutt, spent Easter with Mr and Mrs R. J. Harman. Mr and Mrs Harman will return with him en route to Sydney. Messrs H. Seymour and M. Robbie are on a deer-stalking expedition to the South Island. Mr and Mrs S. Yarrall were visitors to the Tauherenikau races during Easter.
