. WAIRARAPA v. LEAGUE. WIN FOR CITY TEAM. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The wicket at Kelburn Park crumbled badly yesterday for the second day’s play of the match between a Wellington Mercantile League representative team and Wairarapa. Three players, Jenkins (Wairarapa) and Moore and Williams (Mercantile League) received minor injuries. Wairarapa just avoided a followon, its first innings closing for 161 runs. J. C. Dow had three chances dropped off his bowling. / With the exception of Kemp, the Mercantile League batsmen were not comfortable in their second knock, which realised 117 runs. Pool was the most successful bowler. Requiring 211 runs for an outright win, Wairarapa in its second innings made a bold showing, Clark, Hendry and Pool giving useful displays, but the whole side being out for 167.
