FIRE BRIGADES
UNITED DISTRICT CONFERENCE. AT PEAK OF CAREER. (By Telegraph—£ress Association.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. The annual conference of the United District Fire Brigades’ Association, covering brigades in the southern half of the North Island was held today, Superintendent Wakelin, Carterton, presiding. It was stated that the association was now at the peak of its career. It has more funds in hand and more brigades on the roll than before. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr H. H. Scherf (Waipukurau); vice-presidents, Messrs L. V. Horne (Petone), W. Lawry (Pahiatua), W. Boston (Featherston), W. Wyatt (Palmerston North); treasurer, Mr J. A. Chambers (Waipukurau), secretary, Mr A. S. Annand (Waipukurau).
