THE SPEED THAT KILLS.
(The Editor.)
Sir, —I would suggest that all motorists slacken the speed of their cars a little, now and then, in covering obviously obscure parts of country in which their knowledge of its highway traffic dangers, from intersection byway encounters, is practically nil. One has only to witness some of these “speed kings” of a Friday evening putting up a record between Waingawa Bridge and the nearest likely “speed cop” possibly awaiting their arrival on the closer outskirts of our town, to see “that part” of the “speedway” intersected by Fleet Street traffic, as a glaring case in point. A traffic inspector, doing occasional “night duty” there, might easily bring at least 20 Wairarapa “motor hogs” to interview the Court.- —I am, etc., ‘“SAFETY FIRST.” Masterton, April 8.
