GOLD MINING RETURNS.
Gold valued at £20,000 was obtained during March from the dredges of Kanieri Gold Dredging Ltd and Barrytown Gold Dredging Ltd. Both dredges work on the West Coast of the South Island. The Kanieri return for March was: —I7OIOZ gold from 207,000 yards in 450 hours. The approximate cost was £3200 and the realisation about £13,500. The Barrytown dredge obtained 805 oz from 231,000 yards in 463 hours, costs being about £2500 and the realisation £6500. Another substantial return was won by the Rimu dredge, also operating on the West Coast. A total of 213>,0z was won in 132 hours during the week ended April 4. The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Martha Gold Mining Co. (Waihi, Ltd.): —No. 3 level, K lode: Driving east of Lovett Soifth crosscut, the next 24ft. assays 29/9 over a stoping width of sft. Driving west, the next 22ft is not payable. Moonlight (West Coast): 960 z in 330 hours. Talisman Dubbo (Karankahake: Fortnight ended March 18, 137 tons of ore realised £152. Gold valued at £7 12s an ounce. The Bundi Dredging Co reports that to April 5 the dredge worked 85 hours, dealing with 11,994 yards, recovering 71oz 18dwt gold. Worksop Extended reports 132 hours work, 10,000 yards dredged, for 590 z gold. Mossy Creek worked 126 hours treated 7000 yards, for 340 z 7dwt gold. Blackball Creek in five days recovered 560 z.
