INDOOR BASKETBALL
PRACTICE GAMES HELD LAST NIGHT. COMPETITION TO START NEXT TUESDAY. Fourteen teams (eight ladies and six men’s) took part in practice indoor basketball games held in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium last night. Much interest was shown by the participants and there is every prospect of the forthcoming competition, which will start on Tuesday next, being a keen and interesting one. The results of last night’s practices were: — Men’s section: Reliance beat Loan and Mercantile, 11/7; Y.M.C.A. beat Old Boys, 12/7; scratch team beat Borthwick’s, 32/2. Ladies’ section: Macduffs beat C. Smith’s, 31/6; Hugo aud Shearer’s beat W.F.C.A., 16/10; Lancers beat Y.M.C.A., 48/2; Woolworth’s beat McKenzie’s, 32/4. Practice times have been allotted as follows: —Men’s section: Y.M.C.A. and Reliance, Mondays, 6.45 a.m. to 7.30 a.m.; Borthwick’s and Loan' and Mercantile, Thursdays, 6.30 to 7.15 a.m.; Press and Pirates, Fridays, 6.45 to 7.30 a.m.; Old Boys, Saturdays, 6.45 to 7.30 а. Ladies’ section: Woolworths and Lancers, Tuesdays, 6.45 to 7.30 a.m.; Macduffs and McKenzies, Wednesdays, б. to 7.30 a.m.; Y.M.C.A. and W.F.C.A., Wednesdays, 5.15 p.m. to 6.0 p.m. DRAW FOR TUESDAY. The draw for the opening games in the competition, to be played on Tuesday next is as follow: — Men’s section: 6.55 p.m., Y.M.C.A. v. Old Boys; 7.45 p.m., Reliance v. Loan and Mercantile; 8.35 p.m., Borthwick’s v. Pirates. Ladies’ section: 6.30 p.m.. W.F.C.A. -v. Macduff’s; 7.20 p.m., Y.M.C.A. v. Woolworth's; 810 p.m., Hugo and Shearer v. C. Smith’s; 9.0 p.m., McKenzie's v. Lancer’s.
