EMPLOYERS AND WORKERS. LABOUR FEDERATION APPROVAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Recommendations for the establishment of a national industrial copncil,. representative of employers and workers. were approved by the New Zea? land Federation of Labour at its an? nual conference in Wellington yester? day. The recommendations were made by a joint sub-committee of the federation and lhe New Zealand Employers’ Federation. In a preamble to a draft constitution it was pointed out tlrni organisations of employers and of workers were convinced that it was essential for the satisfactory carrying on and further development of industries in New Zealand that there should be the maximum attainable co-operation between organised employers and organised worker's; that' they had been requested by the Minister of Labour to set up a joint committee to confer with him and advise him upon such matters as industrial legislation and questions affecting the welfare of industry op the relationship between employers and workers; and that' they desired mutually to uphold the principle of nego? tiation and arbitration in industrial disputes. It was therefore agreed that a council comprising 10 members of each federation should be set up, and that it should be known as the New Zea? land National Industrial Council.
