FLOOD LIGHTING
MEMORIAL PARK SCHEME. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Memorial Park Lighting Committee was held last night, Mr A. L. Paterson presiding. It was decided to leave in abeyance the question of whether the committee should maintain the lights at the Park after their installation. It was moved by Mr Hensen and seconded by Mr Groube that the secretary write Io the management commi trf-e of the Wairarapa Rugby Union, the Referees’ Association, St John Ambulance Brigade, all Wairarapa football Clubs, the Wairarapa College, and Mr J. Kennedy (primary schools) enclosing the programme for the'carnival to be held on April 22. The motion was carried. •fhe programme is: 1 p.m. assembly at Memorial Park of past players and present players (all grades), Referees’ Association and St John Ambulance Brigade; players and referees to wear football togs. The parade will be led by the Wairarapa College Pipe Band.
Athletic programme:— I. Seniors, juniors, thirds, fourths, and schools 100 yards and 50 yards championships. 2 Football Club Relay (open), 4 per team and 110 yards each runner. 3. Past players (over 35 year's), 25 yards sprint. 4. Referees’ sprint, 50' yards. 5. Wairarapa Rugby Union Management Committee 50 yards sprint. Field Events: Long jump, puttjng-the-shot, standing throw (football), directional throw (football); club tug-o’-war (4 aside) for seniors and juniors only. Rowing.—lnterclub rowing race. Harriers— Finish of the 3 miles opening run of the harriers. Sideshows: A variety of sideshows including coconut shy, staking claim, cake stall, Paddy’s market, etc. will be held. It was decided the gate charge be Is per adult, with children under 12 years of age free. The entry fee is to be Gd per head per entry, except' in the directional football throw, which will bp 3d per throw. Post entries will be accepted. it was moved by Mr O’Callaghan, and seconded by Mr Pearson, that q deputation consisting of the secretary, treasurer, chairman apd Mr Pearson wait on the management of the Masterton Theatres.,with a view to holding ' a footballers’ night. The motion was carried.
It was arranged that the committee meet on Tuesday night at 7.30 o’clock and that a meeting of the combined Masterton football clubs be held on Wednesday night.
