MEETING OF CENTRAL COMMITTEE. LARGE FINANCIAL MEMBERHIP. A meeting of the central committee of the Wairarapa Returned Soldiers’ Association was held in Carterton last night, the president; Mr H. J. Brass, occupying the chair. Others present were: Messrs A. G. Wallis, L. S. Nicol, R. Whyborn, H. G. Alexander (Masterton, A. T. Murray, C. A. Chennells (Carterton), N. C. D. Mason, N. H. Thomas (Martinborough) and A. Robbins (Featherston). Messrs F. H. Taplin, A,. G. Rabbits. V. C. Manley, of the Carterton branch committee were also present. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A L. Bennett and W. J. White (Masterton) and Gibb Johnston and C. A. Gray (Carterton). A letter was received from the Military Ball Committee asking the as- i sociation to join in and organise the annual Military' Ball as a military and P..S.A. gathering. It was decided to accept the invitation and to give the ball all the assistance as an encouragement 'o the territorial movement. All ex-serviceman are to be asked to patronise the ball. The secretary, Mr A E. Prentice, reported that the financial membership ai. March 31, the end of the financial year, totalled 607. which was a record since 1921. The annual accounts amounting to £1022 19s lOd were passed, and the balance sheet was adopted for presen-, tation to members at the forthcoming annual general meeting. Foui’ new members were elected.
