NAZI TRADING

DESTRUCTIVE TO WORLD COMMERCE CORDELL HULL'S CONDEMNATION GERMANS SET THEIR OWN TERMS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. WASHINGTON, April 3. The Secretary of State, Mr Cordell Hull, today assailed German trading methods as being destructive to world commerce. Answering the recent attack made by Herr Funk, German Minister of Economics, he said Germany could trade with the United States under the same conditions as other countries. The German authorities, however, seemed to be able to trade only on their own terms. Mr Hull added that Germany was diverting trade from the United States solely to serve German purposes. “American trade,” he emphasised, l “cannot satisfactorily fit itself into the crevices of German needs left by the barter agreements • already executed with othei’ countries, nor does it have to.”

The reciprocal trade agreement with Turkey signed at Ankara yesterday is expected to make heavy inroads into Germany’s position as a leading trader with Turkey.
