BOXING

STRICKLAND BEATEN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. CHICAGO, April 1. Bob Pastor gained a decision over Maurice Strickland in a dull ten-round bout today. The New Zealander won only a single round. Pastor kept his opponent constantly off balance, completely nullifying Strickland’s right punch which earned the New Zealander nine consecutive knock-outs. The only excitement occurred when Pastor’s trunks twice fell about his knees, forcing the referee to halt the fight and refasten them. DAY DEFEATED. NEW YORK, April 1. Henry Armstrong technically knocked out Davey Day, of Chicago, in the twelfth round of a welterweight title bout of fifteen rounds today. Day took a terrific beating from the start, Armstrong losing only two rounds, and those on fouls.
