GRAVE IMPRESSION

Effect of Speech in Germany HITLER EXPECTED TO REPLY (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) ’ BERLIN, March 31. Political circles are extremely chary about commenting on Mr Chamberlain’s statement, declaring: "Undoubtedly the Fuhrer will answer it when he speaks tomorrow at Wilhelmshaven” but Mr Chamberlain’s clear statement has created a grave impression. It is pointed out that Germany has a treaty with Poland precluding any trouble between the two countries. It is understood that Herr Hitler, after receipt of the speech was enraged. His speech tomorrow is expected to serve notice on Mr Chamberlain to quit meddling in Central European affairs. Reports of a German ultimatum to Poland are emphatically denied.
