FEATHERSTON
QUEEN CARNIVAL. COMMITTEE APPOINTED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following have been elected a Queen Carnival Committee: Mr Harkness (chairman), Miss J. Brash and Mr Fountain (joint secretaries)., Good progress has been made in appointing sub-committees and it is hoped to have the campaign in full swing after Easter. Personal. Miss Marjory Bloxam, who recently underwent an operation in Kelvin Hospital, is making good progress towards recovery.
Boxing Club Meeting. At the annual meeting of me Featherston Boxing Club, Mr R. F. Watson (president) presided over a good attendance of members several of whom came a considerable distance to attend. Members stood in silence for a minute in respect to the memory of the late Mr Q. Donald, who had been a vice-
president of the club for many years. The statement of receipts and expenditure showed a credit balance of £lO 16s 3d, an increase of over £1 on the commencing balance. The president thanked the business people for donations of trophies, the boys for the interest they had taken right through the season, and the Press for assistance given. It was decided to send a letter oi thanks to kindred clubs for assistance given during the season. The election of officers resulted as follows:—-Patron, Mr H. H. S. Riddiford (re-elected); president, Mr R. F. Watson (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs J. Varnham, H. Lawson, T. Hardie, Jack Burt, L. Lambess, J. W. Card, J. Donald, A. McKay and J. W. McKain; instructor, Mr W. Nix; assistant instructor, Mr V. O’Halloran; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Jeffrey; assistant secretary, Mr J. "Willett; club captain, Mr A. Jensen; . delegates to Boxing Centre, Messrs R. F. Watson and L. Lambess; hon. surgeons, Drs. Sharp and Okey; committee, Messrs J. Brophy J. W. McKain, C. J. Carlyon, P Cade W. Sturdee, J. Varnham, A. Crawford, J. Willett and L. Lambess; match committee, Messrs W. Nix, A. Jensen, R. F. Watson, W. Sturdee and V. O’Halloran. ’ j The subscriptions were fixed tne same as last year senior members 7s 6d, junior members ss, hon. members 2s 6d, admission to gymnasium, non-members 6d. , , ± It was decided that training start on Monday, April 17, and that practice nights be Mondays and Thursdays. It was decided to. obtain, half a dozen skipping ropes, and that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee that 1 a mat for placing under the canvas be obtained. .. ht . • ■ It was decided to give every assistance to the proposal to start a club in Martinborough, and to further this a committee consisting of Messrs' Jeffrey, Watson, Varnham, Lambess, Brophy and Nix was appointed to visit Martinborough.
