Hungary is demanding 650 square miles of Slovakia, with a population of 139,740, of whom 34,000 are Ruthenians. CONCESSION OF TERRITORY BY SLOVAKIA. COMPENSATION DEMANDED. It is reliably stated that Slovakia is prepared to concede territory 15 miles wide along the Uz valley, but Hungary is reported to be claiming double this area.
The Slovaks insist on compensation by the return of territory east of Bratislava. including the Bratislava-Gal-anta railway ceded under the Vienna award.
