GIFT EVENING

BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED. A large gathering of members of the staff of the W.F.C.A. and their friends were present in the Arcade Hall on Tuesday evening when a gift evening was tendered to Miss B. Preston, a popular member of the staff, in view of her approaching marriage. Dancing was indulged in to the splendid music provided by the W.F.C.A. staff dance band, augmented by Mr A. Barnes at the piano and led by Mr R. Ward, and was enjoyed by all. -w At a Mr J. H. Cunningham, in a happy speech wished Miss Preston happiness and prosperity in her future life. On behalf of those present he handed Miss Preston the many useful and beautiful gifts. Mr G. Challis suitably replied on behalf of Miss Preston.

Supper was then served and dancing resumed until a late hour. The function was a most enjoyable one and reflected the greatest credit on those responsible; ■
