SOUTH FEATHERSTON

PLUNKET SOCIETY QUEEN CARNIVAL COMMITTEES. (“Times-Age" Special.) Mrs. Q. Donald presided over an attendance of approximately sixty residents of South Featherston, Tauherenikati and'Kaiwaiwai, and explained the object of the meeting was to form various committees to further the candidature of the Plunket Society’s Queen (Miss Ngaire Tocker). The following committees were appointed: Executive, chairman, Mr. J. Blain; joint secretaries, Mr J. Fenwick and Mr W. Nix; treasurer, Mr J. Bain; committee, Mrs Yule, Mrs Chisholm,Mrs Wakeley, Mrs Turner, Mrs Clark; Social Committee, chairman, secretaries, treasurer and Misses Rasmussen, Kath Gain, J. Burt, M. Tocker, M. and P. Nix, J. Fenwick, Chisholm, Mesdames Willis, Ingley, Cross, F. Burt, T. Ahipene and Messrs Cross, Barnard and Williams.

Apologies for absence were received from Mr A. Clark and Mr and Mrs Wilton.

After a lengthy discussion it was decided to hold a Shop Day in the Town Hall (if available) on Thursday, April 6. The stall holders appointed were: Meat and produce, Mesdames S. Benton, H. Graham and Messrs Benton and Tocker and others; sweets and ice cream, Mesdames Wilton, Simmonds, Willis; cake, Mesdames Ingley, Yule, Nix and D. Burt; afternoon tea, Mesdames Blain, Spooner, Turner, Misses I. Fenwick and M. Tocker; flowers, Mrs A. Clark and others; hoop-la, L. G. Rasmussen and E. C. Rasmussen; darts, J. Bain; nail-driving, A. Reed. Mrs Q. Donald donated a box of chocolates for competition in the sweets stall. Miss Leighton offered a sucking pig for a competition and Miss Thorne a cake. These donations were greatly appreciated. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to Mrs Donald and Mr J. Blain, proposed by Mr Graham and seconded by Mr Tocker.
