PYJAMA GIRL CASE
DETECTIVES FIND MORE CLUES. DISCOVERIES CONSIDERED IMPORTANT. By Telegraph—Press Association -Copyright SYDNEY, March 28. Detectives working on the “pyjama girl” case near Albury today pumped dry the waterhole in which a pair of shoes which fit the feet of the murdered girl was discovered on Saturday, and found a pair of girl’s bedroom slippers and a blouse, bearing dark stains, more from material resembling crepe. These discoveries, following those of Saturday, are regarded as of the highest importance. All the garments, also the shoes, appear to have been in the water for quite four years. They will be sent to Sydney for expert examination.
The body of a young woman was found on the Albury-Howlong road. Albury, on September 1, 1934, and though rewards of £l5OO have been offered in connection with the case the mystery has never been solved.
The case has become familiar as that of the “pyjama girl." The head was battered and the lower part of the body burnt. The only other recent development was that last month the police received information from a man in Bourke that the murdered girl was his sister, but thev did not accept the story.
