REGENT THEATRE

“THE BOY FROM BARN ADO’S.”

“The Boy From Barnado’s” will be finally shown tonight at’th'e Regent Theatre.

“SERVICE DE LUXE.”

Take two stars, three comedians, an excellent story and a wealth of production —and literally and figuratively, you’ve got “Service De Luxe,” the Universal laugh-maker, which will be shown tomorrow at the Regent Theatre. The stars are Constance Bennett and Vincent Price. It is Price’s first screen effort. But star he is, if a smooth, convincing performance makes a star. Price isn’t any tyro at the acting business. He was for two years Helen Hayes’s leading man in “Victoria Regina,” in New York, and earned the critics’ laurels in a half-dozen shows of shorter duration. Miss Bennett turns in another of her perfection roles. She plays Helen Murphy, the competent manager of a big personal service bureau. Getting down to the comedy element of the offering, Charlie Ruggles, Mischa Auer and Helen Broderick form an outstanding trio. Price is cast as an up-state New York tfoy wno has been bossed so long by maiden aunts that, when he starts for New York to peddle his tractor invention, he vows that never again will another female boss him. And the first person he meets is Miss Bennett, whose sole business is bossing men. Ruggles is seen as an eccentric millionaire whose hobby and passion is cooking. Mischa Auer is a Russian nobleman, now a chef, who calls upon a long line of ghostly ancestors for advice in all matters culinary. Helen Broderick plays the hardboiled chum and confidante to Miss Bennett. Joy Hodges is little Audrey, Ruggles's giddy and man-crazy daughter. There are a number of excellent supporting features.
