GUN DOG TRIALS
FIRST CONTESTS OF SEASON.
WAIRARAPA CLUB’S' EVENTS.
The first trials of the season were held by the Wairarapa Gun Dog Club on Mr H. Nee’s property, Opaki Road, yesterday. The weather conditions were ideal and excellent entries were received. Some of the novice dogs put up good performances but in the open trial, except for one or two dogs in the water event, the performances in most cases were poor. Mr G. F. Birkett judged the water events and Mr W. Harding the land events. Results are as follow:
Open land (12 entries): W. H. Trengrove’s Irish "Setter Redstone Baza, 84 points 1; M. A. Rawlins’s Labrador Retriever Cleopatra May, 80 points 2; W. O. Wilton’s Irish Setter Daisy and G. F. Birkett’s Irish Setter Basuto Belle, 76 points equal 3. ‘Open water (12 entries): P. R. Rose’s Labrador Retriever Shot Over Sheila, 98 points 1; M. A. Rawlins’s Labrador Retriever Cleopatra May and W. O. Wilton’s Irish Setter Daisy, 97 points equal 2; W. Harding’s Labrador Retriever Seafield Boss, 93 points 4. Novice land (10 entries): M. A. Rawlins’s Labrador Retriever Paddie, 85 points 1; K. J. Aplin’s Cocker Spaniel Brick, 67 pbints 2; A. Mclvor’s Curly Coated Retriever Waiata Poi, 62 points 3. Novice water (12 entries): V. Wright’s Irish Setter Barry, 92 points 1; C. E. Grey’s Curly Coated Retriever Waipoua Bess, 84 points 2; E. C. Fowler's Curly Coated Retriever Waipoia Lass, 81 points 3. Puppy land (3 entries): B.'Betrelsen’s Springer Spaniel Brackenfield Swift, 59 points 1.
