OPERATIC SOCIETIES
IMPORTANT FORWARD MOVE. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FORMED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. An important forward move in the interests of amateur operatic societies was made in Wellington on Saturday when a Dominion conference was held at which twenty delegates were present, representative of all societies. After a long'discussion it was resolved to form a national association with a view to linking all societies under one advisory body and t-'hus helping by curtailing the expenses, of production.
A sub-committee was formed consisting of Messrs Harris (Napier), .Jameson (Wellington). Rodgers (Palmerston North), and R. J. Young (MasterIon) with Mr Alexander (Wellington), secretary pro tern.
Regarding finance the meeting favoured an annual fee and a levy on active members, but it decided to ask the opinion of societies on the matter. It was agreed each centre have two delegates on the Federation.
