STAFF PICNIC
MESSRS HUGO & SHEARER. GATHERING AT “THE CLIFFS.” On Saturday afternoon a most enjoy'able picnic was held at “The Cliffs,” Taratahi, by the staff of Messrs Hugo and Shearer Ltd. Although not favoured by ideal weather, those present made the best of the conditions and spent a thoroughly enjoyable time. Mrs Hugo presented the prizes won. The results of the events were as follow: —
Ladies’ staff championship: Miss N. Dixon 1, Miss Fulton 2. * Men’s staff championship: Mr A. R. Payne 1, Mr H. J. Wright 2. Time, 9 4-ssecs„ a staff record. 75 yards (ladies): Miss Bacon 1. Miss Smith 2. Men: Mr Flaws 1, Mr Davis 2. A fast time was recorded in this event. Married men’s race: Mr H. P. Hugo 1, Mr Davis 2. Married women’s race: Mrs Foster 1, Mrs Hayne 2. Boys’ race: R. Foster 1. Girls’ raceN. Foster 1. Girls’ three-legged race: B. Bruce, and M. Hugo 1. Addition race: H. Wright 1, J. Burton 2. Threelegged race (staff): G. Davis and N. Dixon 1. Consolation race: H. P. Hugo.
