PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
Lord Snell, speaking as president of the National Council of Social Service at a recent conference, said: —“One feels it is the right of young creatures to express the joy of life in graceful movements, in the co-ordination of body and mind by the discipline which personal physical development involves. There is, as we look about the streets at people wandering aimlessly with shambling gait . and crawling slouch, a real need of conditioning the body as well as the soul. The community centre can be the centre of moral as well as of physical regeneration, and it can be made a nursery for the civic spirit.”
