SOUTH FEATHERSTON

TENNIS PLAYERS ENTERTAINED.

(“Times-Age” Special.)

Members of the South Featherston Tennis Club were the guests of Mr and Mrs Arch Clark on Thursday evening at a party in the South Featherston Hall. Dancing was indulged in and during the evening vocal items were rendered by Mrs Houston, Mrs Anderson, Mrs Skipage, Jean Burt, Ngaire and Kathleen Gain and Margaret Rasmussen, and Messrs Gordon and Robertson.

The supper room was beautifully decorated with hydrangeas and dahlias. After supper the cups and prizes won during the season were presented by the president (Mr Arch Clark), who briefly outlined the club activities for the past season. The trophy winners were: Ladies’ cup, Miss G. Fenwick; trophy, Miss Rasmussen; men’s cup, Mr J. Foss; trophy, Mr R. Yule; most improved player’s trophy, Kevin Hocquard. Mrs Clark, in a neat speech, thanked Mr L. G. Rasmussen and Mr Wilton for the interest they had taken in the club. Mr Rasmussen and Mr Wilton suitably responded. Mr Sadler thanked Mr and Mrs Clark for the hospitality extended to the club members. All present then joined with zest in singing “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” A very enjoyable gathering was brought to a conclusion with the singing of the National Anthem. A Surprise Party. On Wednesday evening a number of friends and relatives assembled at his residence to wish Mr F. Burt. Junr., many happy returns of his birthday. The cards and competition winners are as follow: —Euchre, Mrs Robertson and Mr H. R. Burt; competitions, Mr and Mrs C. M. Bain. Supper and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought a very pleasant function to a close.
