LAMB MARKET EASIER. DEMAND FOR CHILLED BEEF. Lamb market: With heavier supplies, prices shade easier, but demand continues good. Mutton market: Wethers, trade dull, with prices unchanged. Ewes, owing to higher prices for new season’s, trade quiet. '
Beef market: Frozen beef market quiet arid unchanged. Chilled beef, although Dominion supplies heavy, prices show little change, with good demand.
New Zealand porker pigs: Market quiet and unchanged, excepting heavy weights. Supplies short and prices firmer. New Zealand baconer pigs: Weaker, owing to heavy supplies. Boneless bobby veal: Market steady and unchanged. The above report was received by the Meat Board from its London office which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen rheat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market. Prices for the previous week are shown in parentneses:— New Zealand sheep: Crossbred wethers and/or maiden ewes, 481 b and under, 43d (43d); 491 b to 561 b, 4 l-8d (4‘ l-8d); 571 b to 6416 3 7-8 d (3 7-8 d); 651 b to 721 b, 3 5-8 d (3 5-8 d). Ewes, 481 b and under, 3 l-8d; 491 b to 561 b, 2Jd; 571 b to 641 b, 23d; 651 b to 721 b, 23d. New Zealand lambs: Canterbury, 631 b and under, 7d ( 7 l-8d); 371 b to 421 b, 63d (6 7-8 d); 431 b to 501 b, 6 5-8 d (63d). Second quality, average about 131 b, 63d (7d). Best North Island crossbred lambs, 28/36, 6 7-8 d per lb.; 36/4V(J3'd per lb. North Island 2nd quality lambs, average 30/31 lbs., 6 5-8 d per lb. Best North Island wether sheep under 481 b.. 4.3 d per lb; 48/56, 4 l-8d per lb.; 56/64, 3 7-8 d per lb.; 64/72. 3 5-8 d per lb.. North Island ewes, under 48, 3 l-8d per lb.; 48/56, 23d per lb.; 56/64, 23d per lb.; 64/72, 2Jd per lb. N.Z. prime ox beef, 160/220, none offering. Compared With iac7. 'V'eek's_quotatioris, Down larnb. 28/421b5., crossbred lambs, 28 'SOlbs., and 2nd quality lambs. l-8d per lb lower; ev/es, under 481bs„ and 56/641b5., 3d per lb. higher; 48/56 lbs., and 64/72'lbs., 3-8 d per lb. higher. Wethers unchanged. The prices quoted for pririie ewes are new seasons. The lamb market continues'weak all round, but the mutton market is steadier.
