WIFE ASSAULTED
HUSBAND BEFORE COURT.
reference to black eye. ("Times-Age” Special.) ; J. E. Ray was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months when he appeared in the Carterton Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr 11. P. Lawry, S.M.. on a charge of having assaulted his wife, Kathleen Ray. Mr C. C. Marsack, who entered a plea of guilty on behalf of defendant, said that it was a private prosecution. He did not want to go into the details of the affair, which was not as serious as it might appear. A fine imposed on defendant would operate to the detriment of his children. Mr D. L. Taverner, who appeared for complainant, said that it was an actual assault, and he indicated the black eye which the wife still carried.
