Mrs T. Jordan, of Masterton, is paying a visit to Dunedin. Mr and Mrs D. Buchanan, The Terrace, Lansdowne, are visiting Taupo.
Mrs T. Brown, who has been staying at Lowry Bay, has returned to Wangaehu. , ' Miss Norah Beetham, “Towcett" Perry Street, is' the guest of Mrs Desmond Kennedy, Pohangina.
Mrs Max Jago, Palmerston North, is visiting her mother, Mrs Fellingham, First Street, Lansdowne. Mr and Mrs C. T. R. Richardson. The Terrace, Lansdowne, have left on a motor tour of the Auckland district. Miss Patricia Jordan, Masterton, has returned to Masterton after a lengthy holiday spent in Dunedin, Miss Barbara Dawson, of Wellington, was the week guest of Mrs D. F. Andrews, Essex Street, Masterton. Miss Zeta McPherson, Perry Street, Masterton, and Miss Betty Turner, Essex Street, Masterton, left on Monday, on a holiday trip to the Sounds.
Mrs P. Dillon, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs P. Borthwick, Eridge, Lansdowne, has returned to Blenheim.
Mrs Doris McMaster, Featherston, fyas left'for a tour of the North Island. She will visit Morere, Gisborne, Rotorua and Taupo. Mrs V. L. Robinson,' Wyndham Street, Carterton, and Mrs Geo Riggs, Davey Street, Carterton, are spending a week at the Chateau Tohgariro. Mr and Mrs D. Riddell, North Auckland, are visiting relatives in the Wairarapa. Mrs Riddell is at present staying with her mother, Mrs K. Groves, Longbush. To Mrs- M. A. Jarvis, Queen Street, Hastings, who celebrated her ninetyfourth birthday yesterday, must fall the distinction of being one of the oldest residents of Hawke’s Bay, as she has spent 82 years in the district. Born in Wellington, Mrs Jarvis is a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Pilcher, who moved from Wellington and settled in. Clive 82 years ago. Her health and memory are unimpaired and she has clear recollections of the big earthquake of about 60 years ago. The 1897 flood is another outstanding occurrence which has a permanent place in her memory, and the earthquake of 1931, of course, is one of the modern happenings of her life. On Monday evening the members and honorary members of the Featherston Croquet Club met at the residence of Mrs Saunders (president), Featherston, to make a presentation to Mrs Johns, one of their members, whose marriage to Mr Batchelor will take place shortly. The evening was spent in euchre, the prize winners being:— Mrs C. Rea 1, Mrs Davies 2. Aftersupper had been handed round, Mrs Saunders, on behalf of members, asked Mrs Johns to accept a crystal vase with their best wishes for her future happiness. Mrs Johns suitably replied. Mrs Williams, on behalf of members, thanked Mrs Saunders for the use of her room.
