WARRANTS OF FITNESS
CARE IN RENEWAL. STRICT LEGAL OBLIGATION. Many motorists do not appreciate the strictness of the law regarding regular renewal of warrants of fitness and the obligation of carrying the certificate for production on demand. Every highway inspector or traffic officer can tell literally of hundreds of cases of motorists who. though possessing warrants, fail to carry them in the car. In Consequence difficulties are added to the inspector’s task and though in many cases he might give the motorist an opportunity to present the certificate to him later, actually he could prosecute forthwith. The law lays it down that warrants of fitness must be produced on demand. The solution, therefore, lies in carrying the document permanently in the car. These warrants, however, are valid for only six months. Again, inspectors report that it is a common failing not to have them renewed before the due date. For that there is no excuse in law and prosecutions are likely to be more frequent in the future. So let us remind readers —keep your warrant of fitness in your car and be sure it is current.
