Two sharks, each about 6ft in length were caught by the Maori representative footballer, J. Broderick, and Mr L. Toki, who were fishing from the Mangere Bridge the other afternoon. Both fish were hooked in the deep wateichannel near the centre of the bridge, and were played on hand lines for about 15 minutes. An interested audience watched the fishermen make their catches, which are the first of the kind reported for some time at that point. The fish will be used at the tangi being held for Rongoui Reihana to Haupatahi te Aroha, chief of the Waiohua tribe, who died at Pukaki Pa, Mangere.
