TARARUA POWER BOARD. ' ENGINEER’S REPORTS. At the monthly meeting of the Tararua Electric Power Board held in Eketahuna on Friday the engineer, Mr D. Fraser, presented the following reports:— Eketahuna area: A short 3.3 k.v. three-phase line was tapped off the lines in Septimus Street and on a rebuilt pole line, was taken mid-way up Bright Street where a 20 k.v.a. transformer was erected. This is now in commission serving this end of Parkville. In Stanley Street a 100 k.v.a. transformer now replaces the 30 k.v.a. and these two now share the load in Parkville, including the Eketahuna dairy factory. On February 26, during the P.W.D. shut-down, high tension fuses were fitted and connected on the Mauriceville sub-station; in the same district the 11,000 and 3000-volt lines were transferred from a 35ft. pole which was leaning dangerously towards the road, to another pole which had previously been erected for the purpose. Owing to a tree being felled across the lines at Mr C. Mabey’s, Konini, the cowshed service had to be renewed. The following poles found to be defective, were replaced: One 24ft. at Mr McGovern’s, Mauriceville; one 26ft. at Mr Seymour s, Mauriceville; and one stay pole at Parkville. In the Tane Gorge a 3.3 k.v. pole line has been deviated to allow for the widening of the road and the old line is now dismantled, ready for the road contractors. Section and transformer fuses have been removed, time switches checked and reset, and trees trimmed as opportunity arose. Pongaroa: Good progress has been made this month and despite the heavy winds during the first two weeks in February we were able to complete the last section of the line from Mr Champion’s at the top of the ridge, thus enabling the power to be switched on at Pongaroa on the evening of March 21.
