“We want the position of the registration of farm tractors clarified,” said Mr J. W. Jones, of the Bay of Islands, when introducing a remit that the Commissioner of Transport should be written to for a ruling at the meeting of the Auckland Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union. “We thought we knew the law, but there have been so many variations in legal rulings that the law seems to change from month to month,” Mr Jones said. “Some inspectors state that it is necessary to take out a third party risk to drive a tractor across a road. Some also consider that all trailing vehicles whether they are top-dressers, drills or other farm implements, should be registered.” The secretary was instructed to seek, a ruling.
