A stowaway ,who was being held in custody in a locked pabin on the Strathallah escaped before the liner berthed. While th.e Strathallan was steaming up the harbour on h.er r,eturn from her New Zealand .cruise, reporters interviewed the stowaway through a porthole. He said he was known as “the Houdini of the seas,” and that escaping from custody when he reached port was one of his favourite tricks. Ten minutes later he disappeared, and so far has not been recaptured.
