Swimming Records Broken. A feature of the final swimming carnival of the Wellington season, conducted by the Wellington centre at Riddiford baths, Lower Hutt, last night was the fine backstroke swimming of Jack Williams, who, in retaining his 100 yards Wellington championship, established a new Wellington record, swimming the distance in 72 3-5, which reduced the previous record by 1 3-5 secs. K. Spry set a Wellington record for the 100 yards breaststroke, clocking 77 2-ssecs, which 1 3-ssecs. outside the New Zealand record. There were five Wellington centre championships decided, F. Pennington retaining his 440 yards freestyle title, and O. Vaughan his 100 yards intermediate championship . The girls’ 100 yards intermediate honours went to a new champion in Miss C. Alexander, Wellington women’s club, and the 100 yards women s championship was won by Miss W. Pritchard, Hutt, also a new champion, Miss S. Gotlieb, the previous holder, not defending her title. Miss Pritchard, who was swimming in top form, also annexed the women's 60 2-3 yards handicap. , All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy to everybody except his boss.
