PERSONAL ITEMS

Mrs H. E. Pither, of Lansdowne, has returned from a visit to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs G. Jones, of Masterton, were recent guests of Mr and Mrs H. Hammond, snr, of Woodville. Mrs A. W. McKenzie, of Renall Street, Masterton, who has been on a visit to Christchurch, has returned home.

Mr and Mrs A. A. McDonnell, of Masterton, will leave Wellington, tonight by the Wanganella on a visit to Sydney. Mr and Mrs L. L. Jones, of Chapel Street, Masterton, have returned to Masterton from a tour of the South Island.

Mr and Mrs W. H. Saunders, of Essex Street, Masterton, have returned from a motor tour of the South Island.

Mrs L. Wylie, of Masterton, who arrived at Auckland at the week-end, is staying with her sister, Mrs Laurie Wright, of Mount St. John Avenue, Epsom.

Mrs Nellie Miller, of Cole Street, Masterton, is visiting Wellington where she is representing the local branch of the W.C.T.U. at the annual convention of New Zealand Women Christian Temperance Unions. Mrs D. Allen, of Macara Street, Masterton, w-ho will leave on April 6 on a trip to England, was the guest at a very enjoyable social tendered to her last evening by a number of friends at the residence of Mrs J. Gardiner. Mrs Allen was the recipient of a very handsome presentation, and warm wishes were extended to her for a pleasant trip and a safe return to New Zealand. Mrs Allen suitably acknowledged the kindly remarks of various speakers. At the .conclusion of the Methodist Church service on Saturday last at Rongokokako, the Rev R. P. Keall referred to the loss the Church was sustaining in the retirement of Miss Nancy Smith as organist. But as Miss Smith was to be married shortly it was really a cause for rejoicing. They would sadly miss her, he said, but wished her all health and joy and happiness in her new estate. Mr Keall presented Miss Smith, on behalf of the Rongokokako congregation, with a beautifully bound copy of the Church hymnary containing words and music.
